With Sarai’s birthday, school starting, and Burton’s and my anniversary, August is always a fun month for us.

Amazing Jakes with Grandma and Grandpa Wright, Velika and Jason, and Jeffery and Anne. With bumper cars, laser tag, carnival rides, all you can eat salad/pizza/ice cream, it was a blast. Thanks again grandma and grandpa.

I found some Halloween costumes on sale. They look so good. I hope they still want to wear them for Halloween.

Angela and I hiked up Squaw peak… took us about… I can’t remember, I’ll have to ask her again. I hope she remembers. It was fun though. I hope I can do it again soon. It’s just hard to go away from the kids. Maybe more when they are bigger.

Sarai’s birthday cake. I learned much from making this cake. It was fun and she liked it a lot. I shouldn't drive an unstable cake with frosting out to San Tan Valley on a hot day again... probably why it cracked. Oh well.

We made pizzas out of sugar cookies, strawberry jam, twizzlers, and coconut. They were yummy too.

Peter started climbing stairs. oooo fun! not so much, had to put up the baby gate… he’s fast, if I turn around he’s up those stairs in a second.

We made our own doll house with furniture and a tree to help set the scene. The girls helped a little and have enjoyed playing with it. The best part… it only cost a cardboard box and some hot glue. So awesome!

4th of July. Our ward did a pancake breakfast with a parade in the parking lot. It was really fun for the kids. I dragged out all the colored ribbon and hot glue and we decorated their bikes. That was also fun for them.

Peter’s still growing and Dariya learned needle point. She is so smart I love teaching her new things.

Tonight the girls help perform “My Turn on Earth” with some of the families they do dance with. They went to it a few months ago and learned most of the songs that night. They loved watching it. But performing it was really fun for them. Although, I think Sarai is sick; she wasn’t her happy self. I hope she feels better tomorrow.

I love to go to California and see my grandmothers. We didn’t have a car big enough so Burton got to stay home and play with friends. This summer my dad offered to pay for gas so we could go. It was the same price as 1 plane ticket; which he would have paid to get himself there, but this got us there. He even helped with the kids whenever he was with us. Dad had to drive most of the way since I was in the back keeping Peter from screaming; he doesn’t like being in the car seat long. The trip there was 15 hours, back was only 13… detours and more potty breaks.

First thing the girls had to do was water all of Grandma Jo’s plants. She always has the most beautiful yard. I remember pulling weeds for her when I was the girl’s age.

While we were there Peter got a rash, I finally went and got an antihistamine and it cleared it right up. It never bothered him or anything. Thank goodness I had grandma to keep me calm and give me ideas.

The Jelly Belly Factory! You get a tour that takes about 40min with samples all along the way. Then they give you a free bag of Assorted Jelly Beans at the end. It was fun.

Then on to Fairy Tale Town:

This is the program from the last time we went… it’s pretty much the same. They built this place when my dad was a kid and he went to it. Then when I was little my mom and dead took my siblings and I also. Now I get to tale my kids.

I love Fairy Tale Town. I could write all day about the wonderful things there. My girls LOVED it too!

Zoo trip

We went to the Phoenix Zoo. Some friends of ours were very generous and shared their membership and visitors passes with us. The kids had a lot of fun.

Komodo Dragon- very cool!

Went to Hole in the Rock for lunch, they have old brick enclosures with tables/benches to eat. It kept us out of the sun and we enjoyed it.

Well, I finally figured out how to put videos on my blog. I realized we’ve had one before but that was my crazy husband and he didn’t teach me. So… here goes it.

Sorry I cut him off part of the time and I solved the problem of it being sideways. You just put your right ear to your right shoulder… poof, no problem anymore… iT’s only a minute long. I’ll try to be better next time.

Miss Jenni always has a swim party on the last day of Preschool for the kids. Then they come inside for their binders and hugs. They love it because they’ve been working on them all year long. Sarai has really loved going to preschool and has grown soo much this year. THANK YOU MISS JENNI!!

Relief Society taught me how to make fondant cows… they look like a pig/cow combo to me, but I took some extras home and taught my girls, they loved it.

Dariya got roller blades… thank goodness we also got knee pads and wrist guards. She had fun though.

The Bushman kids were over and they were playing school while the little boys played at Peter’s table. So cute.

Clint was playing with the Mr. Potato Head and decided Peter needed a hat. lol, silly boy. I didn’t realize I had children so they could entertain me.

Mother’s Day 2011

For Mother’s day this year Burton wanted to take me out and leave the kids with a sitter, but I thought what’s mother’s day without them. Plus, I wanted them with me. We went to In n Out Burger. The girls were calm, enjoyed dinner, and played with their stickers. Peter sat in a high chair. Burton relaxed and enjoyed the time. We all had fun.

He also gave me a rose during the week and took care of me. I felt really loved this mother’s day.

This semester Dariya did soccer instead of dance. She did very well, had loads of fun, and learned to stay on the field at all times… even when she was thirsty, tired, or saw her sister doing something she thought was more fun at the time. It was great, the parents all got a kick out of watching them.

Thanks to Velika our family had Easter clothes. For Christmas she made the girls matching skirts and the boys matching ties. I thought they were so cute I would use them for Easter and save myself some work… Burton didn’t think it was such a hot idea.

Daddy’s Working hard, Kids playing hard. It was fun… except for snuggled with an infant in a sleeping bag because it was sooo freezing, sleeping on an air mattress, trying to nurse in the middle of the night; that was so impossible it was hilarious. Honestly though, the trip was really fun.

Someone sent this to me via email. It expresses some feelings that have been swelling in my heart for a long time. I am glad someone has the words to put with them.

Pass the Biscuits

When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his Biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school.

I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your momma put in a long hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides... A burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"

You know, life is full of imperfect things... And imperfect people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else. What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each other’s faults and choosing to celebrate each other’s differences, is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

So...please pass me a biscuit. And yes, the burned one will do just fine!

Rolling Over

I figured I'd do this update as Mommy is a bum...or busy...or something, but I'll go with a bum. Anyways, while Mommy was at Ward Council Meeting this morning, Dad decided to put me down on my tummy and this is what I decided to do:

Dariya turned 7. We had a fun party with her friends once we got out of the rain and wind and to the church; thank goodness we found one that wasn’t reserved. Velika made her a beautiful cake for the family party.

I put up a poster in Dariya’s room of the Articles of Faith. She has a hard time going to sleep and I thought she could eventually memorize them. After a few days she comes down and recites the 4th article of faith. She amazes me.

Dishes everywhere, Clothes all over the couch, but i don’t care. My babies will only be babies for a short amount of time. Chores will get done later. I am enjoying every minute of this.

Peter Burton Wright

was born on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 9:14am

he was 6 lbs 5 ozs 21 1/4 inches long

There were no complications and we were out of the hospital by 1:00 Sunday afternoon. We are all very grateful he’s here.

Dance Recital

Dariya and Sarai were both in the May Recital this year. They are both so talented and beautiful. They did wonderful.

Sarai got up and danced without any help. I walked with her until she got to Miss Melendy and the stage, then I snuck away. She did wonderful. I just wish the sun wasn’t in her eyes on the second dance.

For the first song Dariya did they used “I feel pretty” it was so cute to see her facial expressions. In the second picture she is in the back. It was hilarious; they had the audience laughing.

The second song they used “Tomorrow” from Annie. She was so beautiful and elegant, I was in tears. In the first picture she is right in the middle.

I have video of all the dances my girls were in. If you ever want to see them just ask. My mom is working on getting them to YouTube so we can share them more.

I heard of a similar conversation she had with a girlfriend of mine while I was taking a nap and she messaged me. She told her I was sleeping and that she was Dariya.

She learned phonics last year in preschool and then spent the first semester going over them again and learning more complicated ones. Now, she is reading books and figuring out words. She is soo awesome!!!

Christmas Recital- Sarai’s First!

We like to hike and our favorite place is called “Hole in the Rock”. It is a fun place that you can hike up the back of a big rock and climb through the middle. It creates kind of an amphitheater kind of feel and you can see a lot of the valley. It’s beautiful and such a sort little hike. Sarai was able to do it was she was only 2.

This is the back drop for our fish pond for the ward party. We got a box from the trash of an appliance store and painted it… It turned out well. Dariya wanted to be Word Girl so we attempted to make a helmet… the first one didn’t turn out so well. We made Dariya’s costume with the help of Grandma Newey’s sewing skills and I found the Alice costume at the thrift store and just my luck Sarai decided she would wear it… It pretty much is luck with her.

So far she likes it and the new friends she is making.

a lost tooth, literally

A few weeks ago Dariya lost her tooth. She showed me her wiggly tooth during the day and by evening it fell out while she was playing outside. She lost the tooth in the grass and she was so sad. Our neighbor told her that the same thing happened to her and she wrote a note to the toothfairy. So... here's her note and a few pictures.

Dariya's birthday

Dariya had an awesome day. We went to the park and had cupcakes with friends, Dariya went shopping with grandma Wright, and we all went to Organ Stop Pizza for dinner. It was a great day. She is now 5 and excited to not need a booster seat anymore. She's all registered for school in the Fall. (That's what happens when you only have 2) Ok, so, call me a bad mom, but i enjoy not being behind a camera so i dont have any pictures of Dariya's birthday. New Hair Cut

Well, Dariya was playing with the scissors yesterday and I was sick. I started noticing hair around the house and then i looked at Dariya. She had cut both sides of her hair off and the back was still long. She also cut her bangs about an inch long. I just said, "Dariya what did you do to your hair!" She got so upset and just started crying. I tried to calm her down and took her in the bathroom to show her but she wouldn't look she was crying so hard. I told her she wasn't in trouble I thought it was funny. She did lose her scissor privledges for a while but her consequence was her hair. She said, but I don't like it. I said too bad you already did it. I tried to fix it and regret not taking more pictures of her before i worked on it.

Burton and i both think it's cute though. You can fix it when you come to visit for Christmas Ang.

This month Burton and I decide to get away for a little while and go camping.

We went southeast a little and found it very cold in the mountains, 42 degrees to be exact, the whole time. While we did shiver and wrap up tight in our sleeping bags all was not lost. We found a beautiful camping spot, fall leaves, and even a deer.

So... the girls continue to grow. Sarai has started talking... in sentences. It blows me away every time I hear her, partly because she doesn't talk that often.

Here are some pictures from the last few days.

Dariya crammed all those pencils in her little tiny pocket, i thought it was pretty funny.

Here's the girls dancing together today. They get along so well. I'm glad they have each other.

We went to the park with friends.

Sarai decided to climb up on the toys when i wasn't looking so when i found her i just watched to make sure she didn't hurt herself. She did awesome. She went down the slides all by herself.

Well, so goes our annual girly pictures thanks to Velika. We just do it at the same time as the Christmas pictures for grandma. Sarai has learned to fold her arms and that last one is the most beautiful smile i've ever seen from Dariya.

For Halloween Dariya wanted to be a witch. But when it came down to it she was scared so for moral support for the ward party momma was a witch too. After wearing it twice, once for the ward party and once for her dance class party, she decided to be a fairy for halloween. Her parents were boring and decided not to dress up for the actual event. Sarai was a bear. We thought it was appropriate. For those of you that don't know she used to growl.

New Puppy

We have a new addition to our family. A little black lab. We got him when he was 6 weeks old and we call him Shadow. The girls are enjoying him greatly. Dariya loves to run with him and Sarai loves to pet him when he calms down enough to let her. Daddy loves to get him wound up and play with him. While momma has got him to play fetch and even sit sometimes. We've enjoyed having him. The picture to the right is Sarai holding one of his sisters at a week old.

Swimming Dariya

At the beginning of this summer Dariya would swim with floaties on. She took lessons with a good friend of the family for 3 weeks, 2 times a week. Now she is almost swimming on her own.

In fact, sometimes she thinks she can do everything and scares us all. But, coming from a little girl who didn't like me dumping water on her face, she has come a long way.

I just wanted to post some pictures of my Favorite brother, okay, my only brother, before he heads for Iraq next month. He has always been an great brother and friend.

These two pictures are of him and his new wife Sara. They were married in January and she is awesome. The one on the left was when they were dating and the other was Jon re-enlisting last October.
Sara's dad is to her right. He is awesome too.
